Virginia's Urban Forest Council

The Virginia Urban Forest Council, better known as Trees Virginia, is a non-profit group whose mission is to enhance the quality of life through stewardship of our Commonwealth’s urban and community trees. The Council’s Board of Directors, in cooperation with the Virginia Department of Forestry, works vigorously to enhance public awareness, increase professional competence, and bolster political engagement in urban forestry issues.

Tree Steward Mini Grant Application Period is now closed.

The 2024-2025 Tree Steward Mini Grant application period is now CLOSED.  The deadline to submit applications was November 1, 2024.  You can find details and submit your application online at https://treesvirginia.org/services/tree-stewards.  

29th Annual Waynesboro Tree Care Workshop - A Success!

It was a beautiful day on September 13, 2024 for the 29th Annual Waynesboro Tree Care Workshop.  There were great presenters who shared a wealth of information at the Lecture Session at the Best Western.  There was also a concurrent session at Ridgeview Park witih ArborMaster® who provided "safety, skill and productivity education and training for people and organization who work with in, and around trees."

 

Documenting and Preserving Virginia's Largest, Most Revered Trees

"Virginia is home to nearly 80 national champion big trees, consistently placing the commonwealth in the top five states with the most documented champion trees, or trees that have grown to be the largest specimens of their particular species," the Virginia Mercury article reports.
